Tell me about the funniest/strangest/nicest Christmas card letter you have ever received.

Do you send them? Do you get them? If you get them, who sends them? Close friends and family or distant acquaintances?

I will start...we received one a few years ago from a former neighbor and I laughed so I got the hiccups and started crying. She told the recipients of her letter about her new home (square footage and price was included), her childrens GPA and which celebrities they are turning out to look like! No kidding!

Then she ended the letter with a quote about humility...needless to say, I kept it!

I started this thread too soon in the year and I am going to try and revive it since we are in the season of Christmas cards!

Have fun!

My wife loves to make a Christmas letter and tell family and friends what happened over the year.

I have to be careful of what she writes or everyone will know just what bad things I did over the year. Last year was fairly good because we had some special things happening. This year was a bummer ~ nothing news worthy occurred.

I am both a writer and receiver of Christmas letters. In some cases, it's the only time I communicate with these people during the year.

For the most part I enjoy hearing about the highlights of someone's year, new grandchildren, travels, etc. The ones that always bring me down are the letters that just rattle on and on about the medical problems and woes of every family member and have not even one positive thing to say besides Merry Christmas.

With all due respect to the folks here who are into letters, I cannot stand them. They just annoy me for some reason. I really don't know why and really don't want to offend anyone. It is simply my strange opinion/preference.
