Yesterday I had visited a McDonalds that recently was remodeled inside. Mgmt did a BEAUTIFUL job with the color scheme and tables etc. A definite thumbs up for them. However on visiting the facility (male) it also was nicely remodeled to updated sink etc. They had a very nice oval mirror on the wall over the sink that some IDOT had scratched all over it. What a shame. Some do not have any respect for the efforts of mgmt to beautify the place. Since the large usage of security cameras inside/outside of many bldgs, why not have one facing the restroom door to catch the faces of all those who exit. These would only be working during business hrs and at the end of the day, if no damage is evident then tapes could be erased. At least the police would have an idea who was there during the time period of vandalism etc. Privacy of the restroom would still not be violated. We have to take a stand on vandalism and graffity Any other takers for my suggestion? Stefhen

Too much money, the cops have bigger things to spend their time on, how would you know exactly who did the vandalism, teenagers without police records or people passing through town, time and money to track them down, time and money to prosecute, against what returns.

Nice idea though - wish it didnt have to be an issue.

At some point in time restrooms will become closed to the public unless accompanied by an adult parent or member of the store employees.

Or better yet,,, charge a $20 deposit for restroom use that is refundable if the restroom is returned in the same condition that you found it.

Yes, this is best. Checklists, initials and timestamps must be involved too

Many gas stations in Germany have attendants on site and/or you pay at a turnstyle. This gives you a ticket which you can use in the store to buy stuff. Their restrooms are more often than not spotless.

Whatever happened to the guys that would guard the bathrooms? "You know.. they stand there next to the tray of cologne, and.. towels.. and stuff?

No one would scratch up a mirror if you had a bathroom bodyguard standing right there givin you the "evil eye"

The correct term is "Bathroom attendent". In essence only high money establishments have them for their high paying customers/patrons. In Mexico City the large discos have them (mens room), hand you a paper towel and brush the dandruff? from your shoulders, (I'm bald) for a tip. Paying to use the facilities gives some (they think) the right to damage the place because they PAID. A camera may be a detterent if their face is filmed. An honest person would not be offended as they had not done anything wrong. A camera has been proven to be an asset in todays crime situations. Stefhen
