I accidentally ended up with a roll of Pillsbury's dough (cinnamon rolls dough) in my bags when I went to the grocery store. I immediately put the item in my refrigerator, which it says to do on the side of the package. If I take the item back to the store tomorrow, will they restock the item or just throw it away to be on the safe side? The item is not mine rightfully, so I would rather take it back to the store.

Many thanks!

I have a friend that works in a grocery store, when ever anyone returns a perishable item by law they have to throw it out. It doesn't matter if it was opened or not, I say keep it, it's only going to be thrown out.

It would probably cost you more in gas to return them. I say, put the kettle on and enjoy tea/coffee with those rolls!

As a courtesy, I would call the store to let them know you received the item in error. If the customer that is missing the item comes to claim it, at least they can validate the claim and replace it. If you bring it back it will be tossed no matter what...so enjoy a cup of coffee and your warm cinnamon rolls!

Being with the Grocery business for 23 yrs things like that happen all the time. Look close at all the mdse around the cash register. These items are called IMPULSE items and put there with intentions of making sales. Sometimes the teen or adult bagger will miss an item on the grocery holding area and not be placed into the purchasers own bag. Check your receipt to see if you paid for the item. Some people will change their minds on a product, may it be a decision or money makes no difference. I personally have paid for something that was not mine to begin with or someone put an item in my basket and not theres. Chances are a large chain when approached with a register receipt and the people say they never got it, the mgr will automatically give another item or cash refund. Someone will loose but it goes under the LABEL of CUSTOMER RELATIONS. Steve

Did you check your receipt? Perhaps you paid for it and it really is yours now...
