Welcome to a fresh, shiny new week! Buy yourself a bouquet of flowers at the grocery store this week.

Today is: World Poetry Day
When you were in school, were you forced to learn any poems?
If so, do you still remember any?

When you answer questions of the day, do you read the answers of others first, or after?

When your birthday rolls around this year, what kind of cake would you like?

I don’t like to order foods in restaurants that I can easily make at home. What foods would you probably never order in a restaurant?

I’m afraid of _________________________.

Name a favorite word...

Today’s paraprosdokian:
I haven’t slept for 10 days, because that would be too long.
-Mitch Hedberg

Today’s poetry funny:
Question: What do you get when you combine Robert Frost and James*Bond?
Answer: The Road Not Shaken but Stirred.

Have a great week, everyone!

- No memory of that.

If so, do you still remember any? - N/A.

When you answer questions of the day, do you read the answers of others first, or after? - I hardly ever look before answering.

When your birthday rolls around this year, what kind of cake would you like? - Missed it by 8 days. It's been 15 years since I last had a cake on my birthday.

Devils food (white icing, chocolate inside) or red velvet would be my preference. Coconut would be awesome too!

I don’t like to order foods in restaurants that I can easily make at home. What foods would you probably never order in a restaurant? - IDK as I only rarely go. Indian lunch buffets do not count in that statement, LOL. But I still do not go often, maybe once every other month.

I’m afraid of further aging (not being able to take care of myself).

Name a favorite word... - Evidence.

Thanks, gentlearts!

We read some but didn't have to memorize. I did learn the Walrus and the Carpenter by Lewis Carroll just because I wanted to.

When you answer questions of the day, do you read the answers of others first, or after?
Usually after.

When your birthday rolls around this year, what kind of cake would you like?
It already has. Not really into cakes. Maybe a nice pie.

I don’t like to order foods in restaurants that I can easily make at home. What foods would you probably never order in a restaurant?
Anything with tomato sauce (spaghetti, lasagna etc) because the tomato sauce is usually too sweet.

indubitably. Love saying that.

I don’t always read everyone else’s posts before answering.
I don’t do birthdays but chocolate is my year round favorite. With the white bakery frosting, with or without light berry filling inside.
I don’t care for lobster. Otherwise most restaurants are pretty good.
Happy Monday everyone ~~

When you were in school, were you forced to learn any poems? Once
If so, do you still remember any? Only one I remember, from my sophomore year of high school, was one a friend recited in front of the class. "Fishy, fishy in a brook, Daddy caught him on a hook. Mommy cooked it in a pan, and Baby ate it like a man." lol

I’m afraid of: My family and friends continuing to die. Being elderly, it's sad and reminds me of my own mortality.

Haha, thank you, gentlearts!

When you were in school, were you forced to learn any poems?
If so, do you still remember any?

Yes, I remember parts of this one:

Bent double, like old beggars under sacks,
Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge,
Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs,
And towards our distant rest began to trudge.

Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots,
But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind;
Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots
Of gas-shells dropping softly behind.

Gas! GAS! Quick, boys! — An ecstasy of fumbling
Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time,
But someone still was yelling out and stumbling
And flound’ring like a man in fire or lime. —

Dim through the misty panes and thick green light,
As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.

In all my dreams before my helpless sight,
He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning.

If in some smothering dreams, you too could pace
Behind the wagon that we flung him in,
And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,
His hanging face, like a devil’s sick of sin;

If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,
Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud
Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues, —

My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori.

When you answer questions of the day, do you read the answers of others first, or after? After.

When your birthday rolls around this year, what kind of cake would you like? Yum, a tres leche cake.

I don’t like to order foods in restaurants that I can easily make at home. What foods would you probably never order in a restaurant? Poached eggs - LOL

I’m afraid of _spiders_.

Name a favorite word...Recalcitrant.
