Please! When you leave a message with your name and especially your phone number...PLEASE Speak Slowly and Distinctly.
Hoping enough people frequent this forum to change your ways if you're like this lady...........
She wanted to buy something I had hung an ad for, in our mailroom.
Listened to her message 5 times today, trying to catch the phone number. Took 4 times just to decipher her last name.
She lost out when somebody else emailed me for it.

Have you gotten that kind of message?

Yes but I believe my problem is mostly related to my hearing loss and that my Spanish is poor and the fact that our county is more than 60% Hispanic.

I've had that experience, too. I am hearing impaired, and even with hearing aids I still have trouble understanding people with accents. It's a challenge for me as I live in a city with many non-native English speakers. On top of that, the audio quality of answering machine and voice mail messages tends not to be that good.

Caller ID or call back wasn't helpful?

Caller ID doesn't always record/identify the number, usually scam calls.

I too have problems understanding people with accents. I recently got a fraud alert call from one of my credit cards. It was an absolute nightmare; calling repeatedly over a number of hours, hoping to get someone I could understand. I wonder whether their customer service department has been offshored to Puerto Rico. I had no problems when I called them a year ago.

I also have a problem with hearing loss, but fast talkers or some accents are a problem.

And some people just rattle on too quickly, making the message sound mumbled.

I don't know about the OP, but our landline phone doesn't have caller ID.

Yes, scammers and others that are up to no good won't usually show on caller ID.
A good enough reason NOT to answer such calls.
