My father was a little bit like Archie Bunker (played by Carroll O'Connor in "All In The Family") and a little bit like Dan Connor (played by John Goodman in "Roseanne").

He was a little bit racists (like Archie Bunker) and was raised to think that grown men don't cry (like Dan Connor).

So, what t.v. sitcom father reminds you of your father??

My dad was a cross between Tom Hanks from Apollo 13, Robert Young from Father Knows Best, and Spencer Tracy from Father of the Bride.

He had a brilliant mind and was always willing to explain things, but he was content to side on the sidelines and allow us to find our own way, and he always paid.

My dad WAS Ward Cleaver - with a bit of Alfred Hitchcock thrown in for dramatic effect.

Well, I'm not sure he was a dad, but mine was most like Norm from Cheers. Hey, we can't ALL have Ward Cleaver!

That would have to be Jim Anderson (Robert Young), from Father Knows Best. I truly did have the ideal 50s family. I loved every minute of it (well, except when I got into trouble). My dad was a traveling salesman, although not an insurance salesman. Funny!

My father is, and has always been himself, and I love him for who he is, and I won't dare compare him to any fake sitcom characters.

Sorry.
