ON GIVING UP HIS EARLY CAREER, BOXING 'I ruined my hands in the ring ... the referee kept stepping on them.'

ON NEVER WINNING AN OSCAR 'Welcome to the Academy Awards or, as it's called at my home, 'Passover'.'

ON PRESIDENTS ' I have performed for 12 presidents and entertained only six'

Yes, he certainly was one of a kind...the great kind. He is missed.

The sad thing is, I remember hearing a couple of those lines personally (on tv, that is).

My grandfather always like Hope and Red Skelton. I guess he passed that on to me, since we always watched tv together when I was a kid.
