I have many 'acquaintances', but few very close friends. My friends are loyal, honest, will listen to me, and will share with me, their problems, their cares and never betray our friendship, as I will never betray them.

What characteristics do you think defines a true friend?

For me, it's dependability and loyalty, and honesty (very important) to the point that they will not be afraid to tell you something you might not want to hear but need to. Someone who keeps your secrets.

They must put forth effort to maintain the friendship. It's a two way street.

I have an acquaintance or two. But no friends.

I would say a friend is someone who knows who you are and likes you anyway. My acquaintances like me cause they dont know me.

All of my friends share my love of Jesus. That pretty much takes care of everything else.
