Doors locked, windows usually locked. Nothing else (I wouldn't know what to do with a gun, I've never even held one). So far so good
I will admit at one point during my life when I lived a bad neighbohood in a sketchy apartment building in which someone was stabbed in the courtyard and there were other problems such as regular gunfire in the neighborhood, I did keep a tire iron by the bed, but that was over 15 years ago.
However, I accidentally left my back doors open on to my fire escape for three days while I was out of town for three days a few years back ... opps. My neighbors informed me of this when I got back <insert sheepish grin here>
Not the house, not the vehicles. Rather have them walk in than kick in the door or break a window. But when I'm at work...I have my own private security for constant monitoring. Always a 30.06 next to the bed...and various weapons strategically located throughout the house. Of course I'm a mile off the highway and fairly remote.
Living here in south carolina yes house is locked and cars are not. In NW Pa I never locked the doors and could leave the can running and unlocked never had a problem.
During the day my security screen door is locked when I'm home. When I'm not home, my wood door is also locked. At night the top and bottom locks of both doors are locked. I'm on the second floor, so I don't worry about windows, unless if you're spider man
Do you keep a gun under your bed? Do you lock your car doors as well?
Allot depends where you live? What style of people are in your area. It's allot more necessary to keep everthing locked up in some areas more than others. And A BIG gun, The life of you and your family may depend of it.
No I did not and I even forgot to lock my bike, but it is still there this morning, despite the construction workers, etc.
I am and remain blissblessed.
Here is my trusty dog Jack. I lock windows and doors and Jack is always on extra high alert whenever I am home alone at night. My 4 legged security alarm
I'll trade you a shotgun for him. He's gorgeous and certainly looks capable of guard duty. (Part Dalmation?)
