My happy thing today is enthusiasm.

One of the things that I most love about watching young children is their boundless enthusiasm for all the things they encounter each day. Something as mundane and trivial as a caterpillar or a snowfall or a puddle is cause for enthusiastic (and often messy) enjoyment, and it's just a real treat to watch.

Somewhere on the long road from childhood to adulthood, many of us lose that part of our psyche. We become world-weary and jaded, cynical about so much around us, and that enthusiasm diminishes or disappears entirely.

Enthusiastic people are like a fresh breeze blowing the cobwebs of boredom and cynicism right out of the room, and I always feel energized when I encounter them.

What is your happy this fine Thursday, on this or any other subject?

WoW BookWorm, my feelings exactly!!! Just had my little Grandson for the past 3 days. He'll be a year old in a few weeks. He is so much fun, and learning so fast, and makes me giddy with laughter all the time!!! My life has been truly blessed with this little one!!!

I so agree with you!! Especially the little kids - so cute! It is a shame when people get caught up in life so much that they lose their enthusiasm. I try to hang on to as much of mine as I can - I think it drives my dh crazy at times, but oh well!

Good one, MBW.

One thing that amazes me about little kids is their boundless energy. I suppose they have to have that to keep up with the grown ups. Like, for instance, if you take your kids to an amusement park, at the beginning of the day they seem to outpace you. Of course, by nightfall they are asleep like a ragdoll, but fortunately, the grown ups have retained enough energy for the drive home.

I agree also! My 4 year old daughter cracks me up sometimes...recently she explained to me why grandma is old and why she herself is new. Lots of reasons, including wrinkles, freckles, age spots, you name it, she noticed it.

She could blow bubbles all day, running around trying to pop them, every single day if I would let her. Now she wants to do it in the house since she's tired of the cold.
