Yesterday I was driving on a rainy highway when traffic slowed way down all of a sudden. Then came to a stop in the right lane.

Someone had a wreck, two cars struck each other, one swivelled around 180°, people stopping, changing lanes quickly, sometimes without looking, debris tumbling into the road in front of me.

No one else wrecked after the original collision. I got into the left lane and got around it.

Seemed like no one was hurt.

I'm happy it wasn't a pile up and wasn't more serious. I guess they call those a near miss, though it missed most of us completely.

My battery in my SUV went dead on the spot while at a gas station this eve. They gave me a jump start so I could get home, so I'm happy that it didn't go out in the boondocks where I could have been stuck for hours.

Yikes, bjh - glad that the initial crash didn't create a chain reaction. That's scary to see happen in front of you. And the scariest thing to me is all the mordid rubber-neckers who compound the danger by slowing way down to inspect the wreckage.

My happy thing this morning is the wonderful breakfast and the big cup of strong coffee that I just finished. I don't know how those folks who skip breakfast can survive through the morning; I'd be a shaky, cranky wreck by 9:00 a.m. This morning we had eggs scrambled with beef bacon alongside a hunk of fried mush, and I am one happy, happy camper as I make ready to leave for work.

Glad you ok also.

I had an accident yesterday myself. Wasn't paying attention I guess, this car stopped in front of me and I sort of bumped into them. The guy jumped out of his car and headed back to my pick-up to chew me out. To my surprise he was a little person, he says to me," I ain't happy." In which then I replied, "Then which one are you then?"

Glad you missed that one bjh!

My last "close call" had nothing to do with driving. My family was in WalMart, in the back area of the store and while I was looking at something my husband and son was ahead of myself and my daughter. All of a sudden he comes back and all I hear is "Get down, he's got a gun!" I never saw anything! So I grab my daughter and there are two teenage girls next us. I am behind a display with them thinking "Oh my gosh, there is some lunatic with a gun in here, what are we going to do" with about a million things running through my mind.............. Then my dh and ds come back and finish the first statement by saying that the person with a gun drawn was a police officer! Not knowing that made for a very scary few moments! They caught a guy a few aisles over and had him on the ground in handcuffs.

I wondered later - Was this man just a shoplifter? If so, I'd say running through WalMart with guns drawn is a little extreme!!
