First of all.....my idea of camping is a 2-star hotel instead of a 3-star. I'm too darn old to not have the convenience of a flushing toilet nearby. But I signed up for the "adventure" and went.

And yep....it rained. Hard. And I sat on a bee. And a rather large wolf spider decided that my tent looked like a better place to hang out than than the grass.

Why in the name of all that's holy do people actually think that this activity is "fun" ?????

The last time I camped out in a tent I had a similar bad experience so I hear you!...LOL. My idea of camping is a hanging out in a 40 foot travel trailer or motor home decked out with every possible feature, including satellite TV.

My grandparents used to have one of those luxury travel trailers so I have some personal experience with that. That's the only way I'll ever go "camping" again....LOL.

I hear you! We went camping once (seriously once!) and we borrowed a camper, but you couldn't use the bathroom in it so WHAT is the point, and we met some nice people that we'll never see again. But in a tent? HA! That's army stuff.

Sounds like you guys just aren't packing enough beer for the trip.
It takes 5 beers to sleep through a night in a tent. Seriously.

We camped a lot in the 80's and it was often a pain in the ass for me because it often rained. Rather enjoy the campfires and outdoor cooking, though.

Except for one time we always camped at state parks. Nice to have the toilets and showers, but the caveat was "people".

Last time we camped we used a yurt at the park. To my husband it wasn't much different than renting a motel but I didn't think so. It was simple but comfortable, it had a lamp, and we didn't need to pitch a tent.

When I was growing up my family would go tent camping all the time. Nothing beats pan fried trout and spuds for breakfast.
