The longest U.S. highway is route 6 starting in Cape Cod, Massachusetts going through 14 states, and ending in Bishop, California.
....I don't know that I've been on it in any other states except Mass. How about you? What's it like in your state? Here on the Cape, it's flanked with scrub pines and barren oaks.
Now you go through Saint Looey
Joplin, Missouri
And Oklahoma City looks mi-ighty pretty
You'll see Amarillo
Gallup, New Mexico
Flagstaff, Arizona
Don't forget Winona
Kingman, Barstow, San Bernandino

Won't you get hip to this timely tip
When you make that California trip
A-get your kicks on Route sixty-six
Even though I've never been on route 6 up north, I have been on the old route 66 from New Mexico to California (now Interstate 40). The last time I went out that way, we got off on another highway at Kingman, AZ and went to Las Vegas. We had a blast on that trip!
We don't have Route 6 in Florida, but that is an interesting DYK!
Thanks CoastalMaine for filling in for me while I was away! You did some great DYK's! I appreciate it!
