A six-pack helps, and I'm not talking beer here.

My parents got invited to a costume party once and went with very minimalist costumes.

My dad wore his regular clothing, put a bandage over one ear, and went as Vincent Van Gogh.

My mom (who was a seamstress among other talents) took an old dress that she had planned to give to Good Will, embroidered a big, floridly decorated, bright red letter A on the chest, and went as Hester Prynne.

Get a clear trash bag and a couple bags of those round balloons
Cut 2 holes in the bottom of the bag for your legs then fill the bag with the balloons
you can also cut 2 holes for your arms and use a wide ribbon to tie the top of the bag around your neck

If you want to be a hit you can wrap up some jellybeans in saran wrap toi hand out at the party
Karla, I love this idea but am having trouble envisioning it??? Can you sit down or do you pop the balloons when you try to sit? How about when you have to go to the bathroom?

My hubby and I go to an annual Halloween party every year and one year many years ago we went as "babies on board"....and I couldn't sit for the entire evening because I had a board on my back...now I pick costumes that I can sit in!

Sitting is easy you just move the balloons around , you dont want to have it so full that you cant

To use the bathroom you just untie the top slide the balloon bag down

Adult costume idea
Simple is better
Will be traveling, so it cannot be extensive either in size or props -- suitcase space is very limited!!
Because of space limitation, maybe more make-up based rather than clothing based?

So far, my best idea is "devil in a blue dress".....blue dress and a small plastic pitchfork and horns. This works because I can wear the blue dress another time so it is not wasting space in the suitcase. But it doesn't work because I will be with people from NC and don't want to be mistaken for a Duke blue Devil. (Now, you Duke fans don't go getting your panties in a wad....it's not because I don't like the team or anything, but simply because it is not the intent of the costume idea!!)

Please tell me good ideas or something great you have seen in the past! Thanks!!
Last year I found this costume at wal mart....was a whoopie cushion.
Thats what I was.........a big pink whoopie cushion.

How about going as 'Grandma'? Fuzzy slippers, housecoat, curlers in the hair, maybe a coffee cup in hand. I'm thinking Vicki Lawrence here, a.k.a. Mama.
