Yeah, I know it's not the 18th yet, but am going to be gone all day tomorrow again and will be in bed early tonight.
The huge fluctuations in the price of gas relative to towns in close proximity to each other. I know gas is cheaper in VA than in WV, even though a city in either state is a mere half mile from each other. What's up with that?
You don't have to go very far to see such variations in gas prices. I know in the Phoenix area, prices per gallon vary as much as 7 cents a gallon for the same brand, and grade, depending on the income bracket of the residents in the area, and with my experience, I know that a gas station in a high income area sells the medium grade for $2.70 ($2.69.9) a gallon, but 5 miles away in a middle income area, it's $2.65 ($2.64.9) a gallon.
Speaking of which, why the heck do they have to include the .9 in the price per gallon? I know they try to make you think that $2.69.9 is $2.69 a gallon, which is not, it's $2.70 a gallon! I guess oil companies think most American consumers are stupid enough to believe they're paying 9 tenth of a cent less when they fill up.

We lost control a long time ago in a lot of area's. Wait 20 years and people will be paying with their lives trying to get or keep fuel. I hope I am wrong!

Different state tax rates play a huge role. I'm in New York, but less than 20 miles from New Jersey where gas can be 30 or 40 cents cheaper per gallon! Sometimes, if I'm out taking care of something near "the border", I'll hop over to Jersey to fill up.
