Whoa, that's sad about your schoolmate. Yeah, it's too scary a thought to let a complete stranger into your car - at least nowadays it is. It would have been cool though back in the day ...

No way. You just never know if you're going to be somebody's victim and Mistress Twinkle Toes just aint down for becoming someone's victim! Better safe than sorry. Also, as a mother, I feel that I have a responsibility to set a good and SAFE example for my kids. I don't hitchhike and I would never pick up a hitchhiker.

Again back in the 60's and 70's I hitched all the time. Met many interesting people including one of the presidents from Hostess (Twinkys). Went from Chicago to Denver and back one summer.
Got to ride in some real nice cars to.
Back than I would pick up just about anybody. Now I still pick people up once and a while, but tend to take a good long look first.

You can't judge a book by its cover. Remember Ted Bundy??? Just be careful.

They might not just kill you, these days they might also eat you. aka, Jeffery Dahmer.

That one in the bikini is probably bait for the others hiding in the weeds. If it looks to good to be true, it surely is!!!!

Wonder if we coulda met back then... Went to school in Miami and hitched around Dade and Broward quite a bit from '71-'73!

Back on topic; I've taken a few people from a broken down car on the highway to the next exit when I was in a big truck. But company policy is no riders and the liability issues are FAR too great nowadays...

MBM, I always enjoy your lines from the old songs Do you read much of Stephen King? His style involves slipping an occasional line from a song in here and there.
