Wow! That is a true law school torts scenario! The bullet traveled that far with no independent, intervening act to break the chain of causation! The bullet is the proximate cause of this lady's injury. This is some true Andews v. Cardozo view stuff!!! Glad she's alive. How bizarre!
That hunter had to have been aiming in the air. Ballistics charts show bullet falling to the ground at far less than a mile for any hunting rifle when shot level. This had to be one of the most freak accidents ever.
