I have pronounced it as both, but almost always I pronounce it as "coo-pon". I remember as a kid my step-grandmother would pronounce it "cue-pon" and it would really annoy me for some reason.

The only times in my entire life have I hear someone calling it Catsup rather than Ketchup is in comic strips, jokes and puns. I've only met one person to ever call it Catsup seriously, and that would be my sister's boyfriend's father, but he's from the Bronx and pronounces everything funny.

I never knew anyone who pronounced it "catsup", but I definitely remember Del Monte at least used to spell it that way on the bottle. I always figured that was the original term, and it evolved to be spelled as pronounced.

I wasn't sure whether or not this would really fit if i posted it in the Writing Forum, but if i'm wrong, feel free to move it.

I also tend to pronounce it both ways...
