And hosts who don't even offer the coasters to you. So you either sit or stand holding your glass, cup or whatever. So I ask.

I hate that, too. And even if there's no coaster, a folder papertowel or a cloth is better than nothing.

I do the "coaster dive" if I see someone putting their cup/glass down without one.

No: people who are given coasters but don't use them (what for, it's not their table!).
I always leave them on the table for my guests, and most of them obviously do not know what they are there for. I serve them, put the glass ON the coaster, they take it then put it back right next to it...

Yes....Alice, that is definitely one of my pet peeves!
What is really frustrating is when they are right there in plain sight for all to see & use.... !!! You can not miss them!
