Why do people, whom you see every day, give out Christmas Cards when they can just say "Merry Christmas" to you in person? This is a pet peeve of mine. Cards are to communicate a holiday greeting via MAIL!!! I've been given no less than 6 cards today (personally given) and received not one "Merry Christmas". Just another aspect of Christmas that has become cold, mechanical, and distant. And don't say, "My Pet Peeve is when people spell peeve as "peave" - cause I already caught that (DOH!!!)"
One thing I like about cards, whether they were mailed or handed to me, is that after Christmas either this year, next year, or 20 years from now, I can sit down and look through those cards and think about the times I spent with those people. If the person just says "Merry Christmas" I have to rely on just my memory (which is or isn't great, depending on the day) to remember those days.
All those silly commercials that use Christmas carols/songs and are shown over and over again.
Now whenever I hear the first notes from Jingle bells, I tend to sing "oh oh oh, the big big O, Over*****.com", or We wish you a merryChristmas..."but at the mall, you're paying too much..."
See what I mean??

Christmas pet peeve - Cashiers and other people who are nice to you 2 or 3 weeks out of the year and the rest of the time are dillweeds. Cut the BS and just either be nice year-round or an a-hole year-round. I like to smile and be nice to everybody 52 weeks out of the year, so I find the fake Holiday Cheer enough to gag me.
My pet peeve about Christmas cards is getting a card from a friend I have not heard from since last Christmas and no message of any sort to update me on what the year has been like.....sometimes it's just an imprinted name, not even handwritten. Now THAT's cold.
