Today's Question(s):

How many vehicles do you have at your home ?

Two.

Extra Credit Question:

If you had to, could you make do with just one vehicle ?

Very difficult, and not worth the pain.

Bonus Question:

Do you or a family member have the day off for MLK Day ?

Here? In the UK? No. However my wife works for an American company so it was quieter than usual today.

If so,do you have any special plans ?

Just for Fun:

What kind of seat do you have on your toilet
The standard ?
Fancy wood ?
Soft padded ?

Nothing special;

Today's Question(s):

How many vehicles do you have at your home ?
You mean besides the mountain bike and the wheelbarrow.. both of which with flat tires? - Actually, I have a Nissan SUV and Dodge Dakota truck.. along with a bunch of airplanes that range from a single-engine Cessna 172, to the Boeing 747-400... Of course I can't park them in my garage, my neighbors wouldn't like that.. They (the airplanes not the neighbors ) are on my flight simulator..

Extra Credit Question:

If you had to, could you make do with just one vehicle ?
Anybody wanna buy a Boeing 747? - That's a tough question to answer because I'd like to have an extra vehicle just in case one needs to be in the repair shop, or as recently as late October of last year, when the battery on my Nissan SUV bit the dust. I can't imagine riding my mountain bike, or walking almost a mile to the auto parts store carrying the old battery with me (it had a prorated warranty) to get a new one.

Just for Fun:

I thought about getting the Redneck High Tech Toilet, which has a remote control for the TV, a beer cooler, a magazine rack, a computer desk with wireless capabilities, an automatic gender detector, which will raise the seat if the user is a male, and lower it for a female, unless of course the male is doing a number 2, and the seat will even change color to the user's preference, including pink for the ladies.. and most importantly, it has built-in entertainment that automatically starts when somebody sits there, with a choice of either NASCAR races, or stand-up comedy by redneck commedians Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, Larry The Cable Guy, and Ron White. It plays the audio portion of whatever is playing, and it also plays the video portion on the computer monitor, if you have a computer installed.. - It's probably too elaborate, so I'll stick with the standard seat for the time being..

Extra Credit Question:

No. Now we need two for work. After we retire we will have one for travel and one for hauling.

Bonus Question:

Do you or a family member have the day off for MLK Day ? Yes

If so,do you have any special plans ?

Nope. Taking it easy for the most part. Mrs. Tek had 3 doctor appointments (all quick), we did some shopping, and we are dropping the SUV off at the dealer for servicing.

Today in History:
1896 - 1st demonstration of an X-ray machine in U.S. (New York City) - Hmmm.. I guess X-ray machines have a right to demonstrate also...

1964 - Plans for World Trade Center announced (New York City)
Not too long after the WTC Towers were destroyed in the September 11th, 2001 attacks, I remember one of the people, who was involved in designing the twin towers, mentioned that they were designed to withstand aircraft collisions, and I remember him referring to the largest commercial aircraft that were in use by airlines at that time, which were the Boeing 707 and the Douglas DC-8, both were single aisle narrow-body aircraft. I'm not sure why he said that because both aircraft are not that much smaller, in physical size, than the ones that were used in the attacks, which were both the wide-body (double-aisle) Boeing 767, which is also a little lighter in weight as the older jets. The 707 and the DC-8 however, had more fuel capacity, 23,800 gallons for the Boeing 707-320B, and between 12,100 to 16,200 gallons for the two 767s that were used in the attacks. The older aircraft that were around the mid 1960s used the less efficient turbo-jet engines, later models that came out in the late 1960s and early 1970s, came with the more efficient turbo-fan engines, and both older aircraft had 4 engines, whereas the 767 has 2 of the more fuel-efficient turbo-fan engines. My point is, even if the attacks were carried out with the older 707 or the DC-8 aircraft, the outcome would have been the same, because the initial impact, and the subsequent fires that resulted from the jet fuel, would have weakened the steel frames of the towers, and the load of the floors above the impact zones in both towers would have been too much on the weakened structures at the impact zones.

This is the Boeing 707-320B, which is the aircraft the WTC designer was referring to in his comment about the design consideration of the WTC towers, and it was the aircraft that was used by most airlines for long flights in the 1960s and through the 1970s up until the mid 1980s.
