Great thread YLisa ~ we were just having the same conversation on another thread about those gym uniforms...guess all the girls in the entire country wore them.
I remember the detergent Oxydol (giant boxes) had the dishware...I think my grandmother got all her dishes in those boxes.
I remember rushing home from school to watch Dark Shadows he (Quentin) was so handsome!
Laundry detergent had free glasses, dishes or towels hidden inside the box?
I definitely remember those, now about the only thing you can keep with the laundry detergent boxes are the plastic scoops they have in them!
I also remember little toys they put in the bottom of cereal boxes, and my 2 sisters and I used to try our best to dig them out, and mom always gave us a hard time about it.
Same thing with Cracker Jack candy, we always got a little toy at the bottom.
Remember when the 1st class postage stamp was 3 cents, airmail was 5 cents and you had 2 mail deliveries 6 days a week.
Now the U.S. Postal Service has No Class!
When I was a kid, I remember having the mailbox outside at the end of the front yard by the street to make it easy for the mailman to drop off the mail, and it didn't have a lock because we didn't have to worry about somebody walking by and taking our mail. This was in the 1960s and the 1970s, and they continued having those up until this identity theft thing started less than 10 years ago.
Wow, I remember waaay too many of those. And, Mike, we still have those mailboxes in front of the houses at the street. Mine is just outside my front door.

We respected our elders. Yes mam, no sir, may I, please, thank you, you're welcome. My daddy came back from Pearl Harbour. My Mom had worked at the Small Arms Plant. In our wagons we gathered newspapers and tin cans. War Bonds and stamps were sold at the theatres and at school. Every theatre had newsreels before the main feature. WWII updates (of course, not very updated). Weekly Reader in school. o
Spin the Bottle at parties. Ad if you were lucky, you got to 'kiss' the best looking boy in class. But it was usually the other boys that kissed better!!
Sling shots, bottle cap 'baseball' played in alleys. Linoleum on floors, vinyl table cloths. Switzer's licorice, Penny lofers, really did oput a penny in them! Poodle skirts. Your first brassiere, yeah, bra!. Sitting in the dark at a movie and the boyus behind you would be making silly noises adn such to catch your attention.
Made calls, "Do you have Prince Albert in a can? Better let him out". Did we really think that that was funny?
Stayed up late and watched the lights of the street cars shine on the ceiling and make patterns while yu slept on the pallets in the floor w/.your cousins. Paper dolls of movie stars.
