Yeah this use to jam my frequencies especially when in a hurry, then I began to pay more attention to the synchronization of the partnering neighborhood lights to better understand that 1 nasty red light. Now that I know when that light will be Red in relation to how the other lights work it helps me cope a wee bit better....
I have one of those at the entrance to our neighborhood. It's not too bad coming in off of the Highway but going out it is so slow
If you need to turn left and it starts to turn yellow you better turn right and make a u-turn on the main highway. You will still beat it. That's how long it is.
Traffic lights Must say this reminded me of one more thing I love about my commute - no traffic lights. The towns of Boquete and Bocas don't have any (stop signs where deemed necessary). You'll find a few in the larger cities, but I pretty much stick close to home except when I have to go to the airport.
That particular traffic light on your commute that recognizes your car and turns red as you approach.
Most are synchronized to minimize the number of stops, so theoratically, if you drive at the speed limit, or up to 10 MPH faster, you should not have to stop at most intersections. However, there's always one or two slow drivers ahead of you, that drive side by side and block you in, and you can't get around them, so that defeats the purpose of synchronized traffic lights.
Another peeve is when you're driving behind one or two slow individuals and you know the light 200 feet ahead is going to turn yellow soon, and you can't get around them, then when the light does change, the driver ahead of you speeds up to get through the yellow, and you end up having to stop because you don't want run through a red light!
