Today's tip is about booking flights online. If possible, be flexible with your travel dates and you may save a lot of money.

According to an interesting study I found on the internet, if you book online and click "flexible dates"you'll often save a lot of money, especially on Travelocity. The difference is particulary notable for international flights.

The study gave this example:

"Sample fares we just checked:
$444 - Insist on leaving on the 5th and returning on the 7th
$333 -Willing to leave on the 5th and return on the 8th"

Tip of The Day features ideas I hear about--not always ones I've tried. They sound good to me in theory and who knows--some of them (hopefully most of them) may be brilliant. Anyway, the point of this thread is to start some fun conversations. By all means jump in and add jokes, comments, and even your own tips, if you'd like.

Years ago I worked for British Airways. It is amazing how much money you can save by playing with your dates. You also save by staying over on a Sunday night....rather than leaving on a Sunday. Sometimes you can also save more by calling a representative rather than checking online. There can be sales and deals that aren't offered to you online since the online and offline are two different entities within the company and may offer different options/perks/sales.

We find it cheaper to fly on Saturdays and we have to be specific as we have someone who has scheduled to meet us, or when on a cruise or other travel plans you have specfic times required to be there.
But if you're flexible and have no set dates or times, then this tip usually works.
