But speaking as an American with some fluency in the difficult Canadian language, I like it. It's just a little underwhelming as a *World Capital*. It is amusing that the dopey Sens don't play in Ottawa proper, but in Kanata.
It's a technicality, but Kanata *is* Ottawa proper now. Around the turn of the century Ottawa and all of its suburbs on the Ontario side were merged into one big City of Ottawa.

When first I crossed into Gatineau/Hull from Awfulwa, I was greeted by the sight of a brightly lit COUCHE-TARD. I realize it's a common depanneur, but to an American, the sight was initially both jarring and amusing... as are the bilingual street names ("Rue Metcalfe St.") across the river.
The GLEBE (!) seemed a pleasant enough place to live.
