The best thing to do would probably be to go to a cabane à sucre (sugar shack) although the season is short (March-April) and is wrapping up really fast. Next weekend is probably the last weekend.
The thing with these places is that they are out of town in the country.
One of the closer good ones to downtown Ottawa and Gatineau is this one:

It is about a half-hour drive, so you need a car.
Otherwise, Québécois cuisine will likely be more higher end, at places like Le Tartuffe (
Restaurant Le Tartuffe- Fine cuisine Gatineau - Outaouais - Québec) which is a block away from the Museum of Civlization in downtown Gatineau.
Another nice place, but pricey as well, is L'Orée du Bois (
Accueil - Restaurant l'Orée du Bois - Cuisine régionale et française - Gatineau - Hull - Ottawa) It is on the edge of Gatineau Park, in a really nice setting. It's not in the city, so you need a car to get there but it is barely a ten-minute drive from downtown.
Just thinking about it, anything reasonably authentic tends to be pricey.
Though not necessarily Québécois in cuisine, a few decent and less expensive places are to be found around the corner of Rue Laval and Rue Aubry. This is about a 5-minute walk from the Museum of Civilization.
Fleur de Sel/L'Argoat (
Restaurant Fleur de sel et l'Argoat de Gatineau : secteur Hull) is French-style, with crêopes bretonnes and things like that.
Pizza'za is a European-style pizza (thin crust) and wine bar place:
Resto Hull- Restaurant Gatineau- Pizza Hull- Restaurant Ottawa- Bar à vin- Salon privé- Resto Italien- Restaurant Italien- Vignoble Québec- Vin Québec- Bistro Québec- Resto bar Gatineau
Right next door to Pizza'za is Le Café Aux 4 Jeudis, a good place to have a drink and relax. They have a really nice terrasse in summer.
Another interesting place is this Swiss restaurant:
Restaurant Meule et caquelon
It is a fondue and raclette place. You can bring your own wine so this helps keep costs down. It is in a totally uninteresting strip mall on an unequally uninspiring (though not dangerous) stretch of Boulevard Gréber a few km west of downtown Gatineau where the museum is. But it is easily accessible by bus from both central Ottawa and Gatineau.

. Ended up going to the one beside Civilization Museum and the food was awesome (bit pricey but was ok cuz we earned some money from casino lol). Also this is actually the first time I had chance to take a close look at the city's landscape and urban fabric, scenery etc and I was surprised because I didn't know Ottawa/Gatineau had this much jogging/cycling paths. I wish Toronto had something like that around downtown. and checked out the buildings above and they were all interesting, actually the most impressive one was the Canadian War Museum by Raymond Moriyama. Anyways, Thanks again for your help, hope I go back there sometime soon for a longer trip
