Your comment is out of line. A man has to "man up". A 13 year old gets to be a kid.

What do you expect? He's 13 for God's sake.

I think I am going to have to go with the Wii, thank you everyone for your replies. I'm just going to buy the Resident Evil game anyway so I can play it myself.

Oh please. Not all parents are as out-of-the picture when it comes to guidance as your mother. The "anything-goes" doesn't work for everyone.

I think 13 is too young for the violent games especially if killing of humans is the goal of the game.

Here is the way I handle M games for my son since he has been 12 he is now 13. Take call the latest Call of Duty. Went into the local Game Stop with my son and put the game on the counter. The fresh out of high school kid behind the counter says to me sir do you know this is an M game. I said yes I can see that, then went on to explain. That if my son will grow up to become a Green Beret or Ranger and kill terrorist who want to kill innocent Americans I would be very proud. The game shows the realty of war. Now a game like Grand Theft Auto no way, no positive role model there.

I'd go with NONE of the possible purchases the OP mentioned, for 1000 reasons + 1. NONE until he is 18+, by which time I would hope he would CHOOSE, by his own volition, not to waste his money on anything like that.

But then again, I am one of the "radicals" on this forum.

Yes - when someone is 18, self-sufficient and paying their own way, then it can be their decision what they do with their money. If they have money after bills and rent for video games including those with a lot of blood and gore, who can stop them.

Otherwise the parents can and should determine what is in their home. Those who want a non-violent home have every right to insist on what comes into the home.

I find that it's easiest to see what games they gravitate towards, rather than ban things in advance.

My kids love the EA sports, 2K sports, and the Guitar Hero games more than any others. When thier friends are over they set up tournaments, make brackets, etc.....They can even play against their friends on line when they are not all together. My 11 year old has not even asked for a game that I have had to decline.

My kids have friends who have some games that I consider objectionable but they haven't asked for them so I haven't had to ban them. My older boys (16, 14) do have some M rated games but most of them involve fantasy situations (save the earth from the aliens, the locusts, etc...) I wouldn't buy these games for my younger son, but I think they are fine for well adjusted teens. Resident Evil is similar. It involved Zombies. My kids haven't asked for it.
