A Georgia couple is facing child cruelty charges for tattooing six of their children with a crude device made from a guitar string, says reports.

Patty Jo Marsh and husband Jacob Edwards Bartels were arrested late last year after the biological mother of some of the children found that markings on their hands wouldn't wash off.

I certainly think it rates as child cruelty even if the kids say they wanted them. I also thinks it reflects on their disregard for the health of their children to use a homemade device with god knows how many risks. Wonder what else these parents consider Ok for their kids?

Good Im glad they got arrested and I hope they are in jail for a long time . tattoos are okay for people who are old enough to understand that they are there for life or that if you have them removed it is going to hurt like the dickens or that they will have a massive scar . Some ppl really should not have kids as they are not prepared to be a parent .

Pierced ears and circumcision are perfectly legal parental choices for their children's bodies - how is this any different?

Pierced ears on babies and toddlers I don't agree with...BUT...there is a big difference between circumcision, which is a health/cleanliness decision, done by a medical doctor, and a homemade tattoo done with a guitar string.

There is also a reason why licensed tattoo artists have strict sterilization guidelines....a homemade tattoo with a guitar string sounds like a recipe for an infection.

Actually there are NO proven medical benefits for circumcision. None. It is purely cosmetic.
