The K12 is the online public school program. It says they're fully accredited. I've seen the ads on tv and I'm curious if it is good as it seems. I'd like to hear some experiences with it.
wow, okay well thus far I guess I'm the first to respond. I personally used K-12 in Arkansas for kindergarten. My best friend currently uses the curriculum; so there's my background. My son when he was in Kindergarten was to intellectually immature to utilize the curriculum. That being said I've homeschooled for years and I spend a very large amount of time researching curriculum so here's my take.
It's a very thorough curriculum. It should supply all the curriculum you need. We recieved boxes, and boxes. My girlfriend would say theres no way to finish it all so just do the requirements. You typically get a teacher assigned to you for oversight purposes who can access your childs completed assignments, status, etc. They are more there as guides though and don't actually teach.
Hands on for parents can be high for the curriculum. Grading, etc. But, as a whole I'm going to give the curriculum a thumbs up for being comprehensive, with good curriculum materials. For a more thorough review or in general might I suggest the following:
homeschoolreviews.com
The above site is my go to spot for curriculum reviews. Unbiased just parents telling it like it is. My friend does like it. On a personal level I'm not sure I would as I have a kid two grade levels down in english and over six up in Math and K-12 is not built for handling that level of descrepancy.
Also, I believe K-12 has free demos on that site....just a thought. Best of luck!
