My child has a sizable college fund, she chose to go this route because she is smart enough to realize that if she goes this route, she can use her college fund to buy a house, AND get a college education with NO debt.
So, are you saying LM is a bad place to work?
Oh, and her degree will be in some facet of engineering, UF, UCF, USF, or other universities in other states, should she choose to transfer out of state.
You really thought LM has its own college?

Please tell her if she chooses engineering not to go USF! Horrible engineering departments, Fiancee went there and dropped out and Is now going to UCF.

She is soooooo NOT going there, UF is only 30 miles away, her daddy and granddaddy both got their engineering degrees from UF, its a good school.
....thanks for the advice!

They were far more concerned with whether I did well in school, got a full-time job, and didn't date creepy people.

I'm actually surprised that some people still have an issue with a cartilage piercing in an adult. I work with a wide range of people (20s-50s) and I don't know a single person who would think twice about it! Several other people I work with have tattoos. Seriously, if you have an issue with a mainstream piercing, will you have a heart attack if you find out your child gets a tattoo?
Where do you work?

My kids won't get tattoos. They've seen a family member with a decent sized birthmark, who has gone through PAINFUL laser surgery (after a childhood full of being teased - weird looks in adult life from other ADULTS) and see no reason to mark up their bodies when someone they love so much is trying to get rid of a marking on their body that they were born with and DIDN'T choose to have.

A birthmark, such as a port-wine, is a completely different issue than a tat.
The dif is, your relative didnt CHOOSE it, can you see the difference?

No. Not at all.

I'm saying that with what I am doing for and with my kids, if they end up living at home at 18 - I'm really going to question what I did wrong.

You're doing the best you can. You didn't ask for anything to go the way it did. It just did. So keep your chin up.

WHO DOES THAT?
Oh thats right those crazy people with the meth mouths who end up on the news via mug shot after being arrested for beating their kids with a skillet.

Yep, rip it. Right out. But I'm good with suturing, although it eeks me out to do it on family but a friend of mine can sew up a uterus in no time flat, so I'm not worried if I miss a stitch!

Stop taking everything so literally!

I'm sorry but I don't know how to take you most the time.
On more than one occasion you've accused me of being something I'm not and totally attacking me...so you seem like someone who would actually do that.

Makes it interesting to speculate if such hammer-handed parents would be able to let up on the judgmental attitude and attempts at control even after their offspring has settled in their own home. I know my guardian didn't. She was critical and domineering about such things - worse was that it even extended to what I read and watched on tv. I made sure to move out on my own as soon as I had first and last month's rent, even though it was a seedy dump in a bad part of town. Being an obnoxious early 20-something, I made sure to have the objectionable reading materials (and it wasn't anything like porn, just "liberal" print that she objected to) out in plain sight when she visited because I knew she'd squawk about it even when it wasn't under her roof. I took snotty pleasure in pointing out that she was now under my roof and I could do as I damned well pleased

I'm glad that in the 30 years since I've matured into a more dignified person, but I look back and shake my head at the ridiculous situation.

Because if the tattoo means something....which believe it or not to most people they do....it carries on until you are in your 30's. So And even if it is just cute...so what...you are suddenly supposed to go into mom mode because now it shouldn't look cute? I guess i should get rid of mine now because i am one too huh? And clothing fits into your argument.
