I know I'm chiming in late, so don't get off topic on that point please. I haven't gone through all the threads to see if anyone posted on my suggestion. Has anyone posted the school board members phone numbers or email addresses so some type of campaign could start to let these do nothing school board members that they're being watched and they better do soemthing about their non-existant bullying policy?

Bullying is a national problem but fighting it is a local issue. Include the superintendant with the school board members but lets not let this be forgotten about.

The reason why bullying is worse now than ever is because of our over-policed, over litigious society. Used to be, a kid that got out of line got his ass kicked pretty fast. Not even always by another juvenile. When I was a teenager, in the late '70's, early '80's, if you acted like a punk you could count on hell raining down on you, and if it happened to be an adult that evened the score, well you knew that was a possibility goin' in.

One time a neighborhood kid was picking on my younger, female cousin. I found him and gave him a quick beating. Not that I was such a tough kid, but he was like most bullies, a coward in his core. About two weeks later I was walking home at night alone, a car pulls up and this kid, his older brother, and his 250 pound father jump out. The father pins my arms behind my back while his two sons take turns throwing punches at me. A neighbor lady saw what was going on and called my father. They had just let me go and were getting back in their car when my dad pulls up. He didn't say a word. He just walked over to the guy and hit him with such a leaping left hook that the guy went down. Turned out he had to get a dozen or so stitches to close the gash he got over his lip. But no one was arrested, no legal repercussions of any kind, and my point, is really just this: Though I know that there were many abuses of power in the old days, by cops, teachers, parents, look where we are now. Someone wrongs your child, you go to the proper authorities, and nine out of ten times not only is nothing much done, but the guilty party is empowered, is sent the exact wrong message, that his actions will go unpunished. Some of my best friends are lawyers, but their busy-ness has created a society of hypocrites, rats, and a system that validates and encourages bad behavior.

I agree with those that say the father should not have stormed the bus. But I think he had just had enough. Probably a hard working guy, (notice the work uniform?), with a disabled daughter. My God, can you imagine what you would want to do to a kid that was physically abusive to your disabled daughter?! The problem is no accountability. Probably this bullying was being done on the bus, so that was why the dad went straight to the scene of the crime; and by the way, where was the bus driver while all this was going on? I have an idea that he'd been told by the school district to stay out of any potentially litigious situations.

personally... good for him... god knows that 90% of teachers/principals/bus drivers dont do anything when it comes to bullying... i have, and im sure at least most of us, have seen teachers standing in the hallways and either physically or otherwise, just look the other way when it comes to either certain kids being picked on, or certain people picking on others

i think whats sad is theres all these new comercials and newcasts about "bullying, how bad it can be for your kids" but still nothing gets done about any of it where it needs to be taken care of

for example, my brother who is hearing impaired was picked on in school because of such... to the point where the bullies, on a school field trip on a tour boat, decided they were going to threaten, and attempt, to throw my brother overboard into the river... youd think some serious consequences would happen from this... ya know harassment charges at the least... nope... all students involved got 3 days out of school suspension.... yeah... thats punishment... try to drown someone... get a vacation from school...

What was your parents' reaction to this?? I, for one, know if that was my child, I would be at that school in a hot second demanding that the bullies' parents be called up to the school NOW and I would have all the kids who assaulted and attempted to kill your brother arrested.

my mother fought for months on this, the school refused to do anything more about it... she had to have him pulled from school permanently (as well as alot of parents in this area doing the same thing for other various reasons) and stuck him in cyber school, the school district here is complete and utter crap, ive already decided my son will not be going to this school district... ever... ill make the extra trip to drive him to the next school district over if i have to for kindergarten and then put him in cyber school, but he will not be going to this school district

Sadly, the father is right. Those kids said pornographic type comments, only heard in porn, to that little girl...very disgusting. Given that no action was taken, I personally feel the father had no choice but to confront those little perverts. As a father, I could not image sending my little girl to the bus under those truly deplorable conditions. Thumbs up, Dad!!!

End result. Will anyone pick on that little girl, again. I say no because they know she has father that will respond physically. My opinion, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Now, his kid can go to school and learn.
