I would highly advise against it. Youngstown is very very economically depressed and is dangerous and just over all a bad city.

There are lots of other colleges that aren't too hard to get into in Ohio tho.

The campus is safe.

Many colleges are in economically depressed towns. Heck, even Brown University, an Ivy League school, is located in an economically depressed town.

It's not like I don't know the area. I live in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh. Youngstown is only and hour away from me.

I have to disagree. Theres a a lot of violent crime there. If someone was to move to ohio there are many other colleges in better towns that are just as easy to get into.

Like Kent, Bowling Green, and University of Akron.

They're not JUST as easy to get into. Youngstown State takes ANYONE. LOL

Regardless, I was merely showing txtqueen that there are colleges with dorms that will accept her. She just needs to do research to find them.

txtqueen, research colleges with what's called "open admissions."
Open admissions - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

scroll down for a small the list of 25 on this page:
Colleges and Universities with Automatic Acceptance

Here is a very large list, not sure how many are not online or have dorms:
Colleges that offer Open Admissions - College Toolkit

You just have to do the research. The schools are out there.

Leaving and going into more debt will not solve her problems. She needs to address her depression. She needs to stick with something. Depression will not go away living in a warmer climate. Or in a dorm.

Whether txt has clinical depression, or whether she just tired and overwhelmed and doesn't really get that some days or times in your life, just are not very fun, I don't know. But running away won't solve either one. She thinks she's tired and overwhelmed now and she doesn't even have to pay rent or much in the way of living expenses. Add that additional pressure to what she already is feeling is just a recipe for disaster.

It would seem she would be better off staying here and paying in state tuition rather than moving and paying out of state.

Good morning all! I hope everyone is nice and warm today. I hope all our CD friends in Australia are fine.

Strawflower- how horrible and tragic! The family of this girl are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hopes, Maciesmom, and everyone else who gives TXTqueen advice: You guys are really great and kudos to you all for having patience to deal with her issues. I pray she takes someone's advice sometime soon.

Txtqueen: Do you realize that people actually care about you and your feelings to deal with your problems almost on a day to day basis? Yet you refuse to take one ounce of advice that could basically get you out of your mom's house if only you applied yourself appropriately.
