I'm looking online and can not find anything that is coming close to what I'm looking for. Hopefully someone on here has seen this or their baby has had it. My sisters baby (7 months) has tons of tiny light brown spots on her crown. She had the typical cradle cap back when but now she has these spots that resemble freckles more than anything else. I personally would not be concerned but she is. In the center they are clustered tighter together and the disperse as they go outward. The area is a pretty good size on her head but if they are permanent it would all totally be covered by hair someday. They do not have any indentions or bumps whatsoever. Her skin is smooth in this area. They don't hurt to the touch either. No bleeding or anything like that. She took her to a dermatoligist that said, "I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS" and now wants to have her put under and do a biopsy. I say get a second opinion and RUN from a supposed "professional" that has "never" seen anything like that ever and would get a second op before I put my baby under. I'm afraid of what damage this doc could do when he does the biopsy plus just not even knowing.

Has anyone seen this on another baby?

Thanks

Momoftwo,

I don't know if this is the same thing or not, but I think I know what it might be.

I once had a severe poison ivy rash. The rash was bad enough the doctor wanted to hospitalize me. After several weeks the worst of the rash faded, but I was left with brown areas like you describe everywhere the rash had been.

It was basically a pale scarring of my skin. There were no ridges, indentations, etc. just small spots of color all over. It took almost a year but the brown spots did fade and I have no marks whatsoever at this point.

You may wish to ask you pharmacist about Eucerna or some other type of intense healing lotion. Emu oil is another good bet. I would definately get a second opinion if there is concern but if it was my babe, I would take a watch and see attitude at this point.

I hope this is helpful to you. Good luck with the babe.

I would get a second opinion, and I have had skin biopsies, (not on my head though) and they are no big deal.

I've also had a skin biopsy and it's not a big deal. They scrape off a little and send it to the lab.

I haven't seen what you've described, but I'd either have the biopsy or get a second opinion. Doing nothing, although a choice, does not seem prudent.

Thanks all .

Thankfully my BIL has said to go get a second opinion to my sis. So she is. He also told her to not go back to that doctor. Her and I both have freckles and that is what these look like but they are on the crown of the babies head. I'd say they are more of a "birthmark" than anything else. I'm just hoping that now that she IS going to get a 2nd that this doctor actually does not freak my sis out like the 1st one did. She gets freaked out over medical things as it is w/ her own condition.

My dermatologist wants to biopsy absolutely everything too. That is the only way they can really tell I think.

Hard to say without a picture, but what's the child's healthcare provider think about it?

Default Freckled area on top of baby's head

We noticed this on my daughter today, she's almost 9 months and this is the first we've seen of it. It's located just over her soft spot and extended a little way beyond it... appears to be just closely spaced freckles, probably less than 1mm of normal skin between them.

Did anyone get any confirmation of what this was?
