Hi all,
We are moving in two weeks from an apartment to a house. We just moved to a new city 6 months ago but our little one wasn't walking yet. Does anyone have any good tips for us? We don't have family in town to help watch her. Thanks in advance!

I would love to see answers on this too because we are going to be moving with two 3 year olds in the next few months.

Do you mean in terms of daycare, or just the transition itself? Both my children were small when we moved into a new town, close but still new. Oldest was 5, youngest was 1.

I mean the actual transition. We don't really have "help" so I was wondering if you had any helpful hints the day of the move. Our daughter is 16 months old.

It seems like my wife stayed inside, after we got there, putting things away, watching the children, while I hauled stuff into the house, for the heavy things, where she (wife) had to help me a little, we just took it slow, and didnt try to "rush" getting things into the house. We took quite a few breaks to play with the kids in between.

I have friends who have a 16 month old daughter who will be moving in five weeks. They have decided to hire a babysitter for the day of the move. I remember doing the same when my son was that age and we moved. If you are able to find someone who can be with your daughter while you are in the midsts of moving OUT and then IN on that day, I highly recommend it.

I would pic one room, and maybe get a tv/vcr hooked up first, maybe in a back room with a fan-or get the ac going. I suggested the tv/vcr cause i know how hard getting the cable on can be, maybe a few coloring books, snacks. Of course your little one is still gonna wanna see what momma and dad are doing, lots of excitement for them.
