I'm so sorry for your cousin and his/her family. One of my daughter's friends was paralized from the neck down. He wishes he had died in the accident. It's been two years and he has a lifetime ahead of him with no hope of improvement. Day after day is exactly the same for him. He's going crazy with his intelligent active mind trapped in a body that can't move. I can't imagine what it would be like to be his parents---the lifetime care of a child who wishes he were dead. It's incomprehensible. Yep, parenting is absolutely not for sissies.

Hopes, your cousin's situation really saddens me. Do you know where his injury was at? Was it actually in the neck? Has he had rehab? Sounds like he's probably on a ventilator. Is he mobile at all? (Can he be upright in a wheelchair with the breathing packs?) I've know quadrapalegics who still have a life. There are a lot of variables and it depends on where the injury is at but at least he should be getting counseling of dealing with his life as it is now.

Sorry. Nosey as usual.

I'm feeling really restless today. I have so much to do, I don't know where to start. I made an appointment at a urology clinic for my 7 year old who is still in pull ups at night. I left a message for his principal to discuss a kid bullying him on the bus. My 5 year old is home with me with a bad cough. We have a full weekend of scout activities, etc. DH and I both work tomorrow. It is all making me very anxious.

I know exactly how you feel, rkb. Deep breaths. And try to divert yourself as much as possible if you start obsessing over things. Big hug! I'll be thinking of you.

I have no idea. This isn't a relative. It's a child who was a friend of my daughter and her friends.

The paralyzed boy constantly tells his friends that he wishes he was dead whenever they visit him.
