Yep.. I'm here- with an empty wallet! In the past few week, the transmission on my van went out, our dog injured his leg, the main computer I use for work crashed with trojan virus AND our water heater broke and leaked on the carpet. Can you hear my sniffles?!! Anyone got a spare winning lottery ticket laying around?
Ugh. I don't know why those types of things all happen together.
Is the carpet salvageable? If you get it dried out, will it be ok? If you go this route instead of replacing the carpet, make sure it is extra extra dry and the padding beneath. I have seen way too many times where mold starts because the carpet wasn't dried enough.
Well, I'm going to see about doing something productive now that the heat lifted.
I'm scheduled for a thyroid ultrasound today. But I can't find my driver's licence. I'll need to cancel. It's so annoying that hospitals require ID these days.
Straw - Hopes had a good idea. Check your homeowners insurance. I'd be worried about mold. Hopefully all the bad things that could happen are out of the way!
east - moving is stressful! We sometimes think about what we'd like to do once DS is in college. Then I think about the reality of moving...no thanks.
Hopes - let us know how things go. If you find your license that is. Will they let you show some other form of id - do you have a passport you can use?
Straw, that sucks. It's horribly stressful when all those kind of things happen in a lump. Hopefully that will be the end of it for a while and you'll have no problems for the rest of the summer.
Ewag - the moving day part is no fun but you must be so excited to move into your first house! Shameless plug here but MrFR does a lot of home improvement and repairs in the Montco area... give us a shout if you have anything that needs fixing.
coop - how's your wee lad?
Zim - how's your friend's family? I feel awful for them, and for the hubby. It's a very rough time. Hopefully it's the catalyst he needs to get himself on the right track. Hopefully too, the people that were around will be understanding - unfortunately there's such a terrible social stigma when someone is an alcoholic, that they often don't seek any help because they're so ashamed of their state. Some compassion toward the drinker as well as his family goes a long way. Hugs to them.

Thanks for asking Fin. They say they are "okay" today, hopefully this is indeed the catalyst needed to make positive changes. This is a weird community, despite the overwhelming religious persuasion, there is an even bigger judgemental persuasion. I am hopeful that compassion will override judgement in this case. We'll see....
