Can I just say that sometimes having a six-year-old at your place is great? My niece voluntarily cleaned our bathroom and dining room floor. Haha.

She's a health nut. You would have better luck offering her carrots, broccoli, spinach, or water.

Good kid!

How about farm-fresh, sweet and juicy watermelon?

Oh, she'd love that. Now we just have to transport her across state lines somehow. Hmmmm.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone! Everything went great!

He didn't utter a sound of despair or reluctance. He wasn't moody. He was quiet, but not silent. (But I know it wasn't easy.) But he really sucked it up and didn't utter a negative thought, which is very unusual considering he OCD worries constantly. This is a big turn around from the last job he got a month ago---where he chickened out the night before in a panic and dropped off a note extending his thanks and regrets for not being able to accept the job.

I'm so excited and hopeful for him! He had become more agoraphobic over the past six months. His world was becoming smaller and smaller. He stopped even taking walks in the neighborhood a few months ago. I can't tell you the last time he got out of the car when he has joined me running errands. For the past few months, those are the only times he has left the house. It was getting so bad I was starting to think it was time to work towards getting him on disability. He has always qualified but I never wanted to give up on his having a healthy future. That's why this job is such a SUPER BIG DEAL! And he did it all on his own because he wants more for himself! I'm so proud of him!

rbk, he is working at a country club. Definitely a challenging social environment IMO! But he seems comfortable with that type of atmosphere.

Anyways, this is just a first big step. I'm aware there will be lots of hurdles ahead. I anticipate he will be super stressed and worried over the weekend in anticipation of his second day. Maybe I'm wrong and he'll have a blast and be fired up to return. Fingers crossed!
