I am glad the surgery went ok even if she has to spend the night.

It's been hot and dry here. I've been outside the last 2 days sampling, and now have a spectacular tank-top tan. There are also assorted bug bites decorating my body and a possible rash (but I avoided the poison oak, I swear)!

Water and sediment sampling, plus we measure basic water quality parameters and measure the flow of water for various creeks/streams/ditches.

I'm glad the surgery went well.

Our bathroom smells like vinegar. Hehe. At least it doesn't smell like yucky chemicals that wreak havoc on my asthma.

I've run into this with some of the parents I know as well. I can understand it with moms of tinies, and have no problem routinely bringing peanut-free snacks to events, even if Oreos and Goldfish aren't all that creative. But seriously, by the age of ten? Even in first grade, ds's friend with a peanut allergy kept a stash of safe treats in the teacher's office, so he could snack along. You have to teach some self-management, or you just cripple your child.

Parenthetically, we used to know a kid who had a peanut-sniffing dog because his allergies were so extreme. Thought that was kind of cool. Same kid's mom said one of his playmates (widely considered to be a "nice" boy) chased him around the house once with a peanut butter sandwich when they were about eight, which I thought was pretty horrifying. (Needless to say they're no longer friends.) People are insane.

I've never heard that one. Young Miss Aconite has inherited my dog allergy, but not my cat allergy. We've never had dogs. We do have cats, and I just go through hell whenever we adopt a new one until I get used to them. I've only had one cat I couldn't acclimate to within a couple of weeks. Direct contact with dogs actually makes me break out in big blisters, which then tear and scar. Between the sweet-faced, drooly labs everyone seems to have and all my cooking burns, my hands look really scary.

Oh, good to hear she's okay, and hopefully the anaesthesia/pain thing will sort itself quickly. Y'all are in my thoughts. Hope your weekend goes well.

Morning all -

mm, keep us posted on DD.

Overcast this morning - feels nice. I'm so over summer - geez - 97 yesterday is ridiculous this time of year!

I felt a little sentimental this morning as DS left for school.
