MMMMMMMM beef stew and beef roast. I am good at making both but suck at pie. Actually I take that back I never attempted to make a really homemade pie from scratch. I rather just buy one from a really good bakery. I want to learn how to make coconut cake with coconut rum like that popular one from a North Carolina restaurant. MMMMMMM

What type of pie was it MM?

Ooohhhh. What a great expression! "Bin it." I'm filing that away for future use. You'll appreciate this Mrs. X: The other day an English friend called me and asked me if I was doing my "bits and pieces".

Took me a while to figure it out.

I also love "wheelie bin". I love to say, "I've put the wheelie bin at the curb."

MrsX - it was a rhubarb pie. It was not bad. Next time, I'd use more water in the crust and less sugar with the rhubarb. Seems like pies are a lost art. My grandmother and great aunts, DH's mom etc could really make a great pie....I'd love to be able to do that. Not always but for holidays etc, I'd love to be able to carry on that tradition of lovely homemade pies. It's the practice that's a killer.

Love the smell of coffee. I've tried from time to time to give up coffee. No can do. Soda? No problem. Iced tea? Decaf all the way. My morning coffee? You'll pry that cup out of my cold, dead hands....Maybe.

If I make pastry from scratch it always seems undercooked underneath. It certainly is a lost art. My mom makes the best Beef Wellington, I have never been successful with that either. The irony is that she's a vegetarian, and has never tasted some of her culinary masterpieces.

I make a pretty good cottage pie, which is very favorite around here.

I've never had shepard's/cottage pie. It looks tasty though. Looks like something my men would like...red meat and mashed potatoes..how can you go wrong with that?

Might have to try one of those once the weather cools down some.

You people cook? That is just strange. Cooking is what I keep DH around for. Well, that and naps.

So... After 2 days of working on it, DD's room is organized and completely re-arranged. It was a huge project. At one point, her room was destroyed to the point her bed was on it's side, our living room was so full that we couldn't walk through it, and we had piles in the kitchen. I stil haven't found her comforter though. I have no idea where it could be or how long it has been missing. I assumed it was under one of the piles in her room.

I am thinking it may almost be time to re-paint her room. I hate to do it because my mom painted a garden scene going around her room. There are big blades of grass, flowers, ladybugs, butterflies, etc. Her ceiling is painted blue with clouds. It is adorable. It was painted to match the crib set we had for her. I am afraid she may be outgrowing it though. I hate to paint over it. Ugh.

Anyways, I hope we hear from Ewag soon and I am glad the rest of you made it through Irene ok.

Hello fellow coffee lovers!

Mrs. X, I love the way you converse. I will try not to adopt some of your phrases and make myself sound totally stupid here in GA.

I've been driving all day in order to check up on my mother in NC (western). The first thing I noticed is her car missing. Now I know she wrecked last week, and tried very hard to get it fixed before I came so I wouldn't know. Agh!

So many pages to catch up on. Am I correct in thinking Txt drama figures heavily?

Hey Philly Fillies: Got power? Nobody I know in NJ does, and they are being told not to expect service until 9/4.
