Well, the wife and I have finally done it. After 4 adventureous years travelling to all lower 48 states we have now settled down in beautiful Niagara Falls Ontario. We both love Children so we decided to open a home daycare.

In The Niagara region the social services department, pays for any low income workers daycare expenses . We signed up to be providers for them and after going through their vetting process we were in Business. Presto, we are full. We have raised 8 kids of our own and they are all out there in the world doing well so I guess we know a thing or two about kids. We bought a really cute bungalo and converted the entire basement into a wonderland for kids. A side benefit is that my grandchildren love it too when they come over. The entire backyard in a Japanese garden with flagstone paths running all through with lots of nooks and crannies for kids to sit and fantasize and play. I'm in the process of building a 400 sq ft lawn in the middle for a nice soft outside play area.

We just finished our first month and I tell you I have not felt so good about something in years. It's really wonderful that our government sees the profit in providing the working poor with excellent care for their children. That allows these folks to work and be productive members of our society. Without programmes like this they would just be forced to stay at home a collect welfare which is not good for them and not good for their children.

Well, that is all I have to say right now about this. I would just like to say to those of you who have little kids, Just love them to pieces. They grow up so fast, they are gone and on their own in the blink of an eye. There is nothing worse than regrets of what might have been.

Good for you! I'm glad you found something you enjoy. Personally, that sounds like the last thing in the world I'd want to do.

Ditto! When my last one left "the nest", barely a year ago and after driving us crazy for the year she lived w/us after college, the last thing I'd want to do with my time is child care. However, I do work in pediatrics, so I still get my kid fix.

After we raised our first two we decided we had so much fun that we wanted to do it again and adopted 2 babies from Vietnam. I certainly can relate to the
"kid fix" you refer to. Congrats. And lucky kids................
