Would a few of you kind moms suggest a grad gift please? For a young woman, my good friend's daughter but I also enjoy the girl very much. She is 23, married with a 4 yr old....want the gift to be for her specifically and to be meaningful as well. I am drawing a blank where to start...

TIA for your time & recommendations!

What field is she going to be in?

A nice briefcase is a idea.

I know it's not personal, but I always give cash. Most people that age need it and appreciate. You can enclose it in a card that tells her how much you admire her for graduating, etc. etc.

Cash, cash, cash. Maybe a little memento or token if you feel the need, but cash is king. She's married, she has a kid, she just got done school and is going into the work field. There are probably a lot of things she needs money for and you can't even begin to guess at what they are. If you want to give something more personal that you know will go just to her, maybe a gift card for a clothing store so she can get some nice outfits for work.

When I graduated college 95% of the people gave me cash and it was much appreciated and helped me stabilize my finances and allowed me to buy some things I needed to start work. The other 5% gave me things that were "nice", but that I really had no use for. Some of them got exchanged if I knew where they came from, most just collected dust.

My parents gave me a beautiful gold watch when I graduated. Came in handy when I was going on interviews, and then later on to dress up work attire.

Does she like jewelry? Two of my husband's sisters wear Pandora jewelry, which has some pretty options, but that might be too faddish. I like the idea of a watch, pearl or birthstone earrings, or something else she can use and keep forever. Cash is always a nice gift, but I understand when family, close family friends, godparents, etc. want to give some kind of symbol.
