I think the '50s and '60s names will come back. The next generation will be naming kids after their grandparents and great-grandparents; Nancy, Barbara, Sally, Karen, Carol and Susan. The boys will be Greg, Scott, Mike, Jim and Kevin.

Thank you.

I don't suppose you know what year she was born? And where? I just LOVE the idea of having a (real life) Grandma Dewdrop.

Texas born....late 1800's would be my best guess, though not for sure.

Harriet has recently made a bit of a comeback in Britain, and the nickname "Hattie."

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the more "traditional" sounding baby boomer names have a revival in the next generation... names like Susan, Karen, Kevin, Greg, that actually have a longer history behind them. You really never can tell, though...

If I were thinking of names these days, I would look at some old fashioned names..like Louisa and Cornelia. I don't know why I like them, but I do.
I would also reuse more family names, since I know from studying the family genealogy that this really helps trace family members in the family tree.

met a woman who just named her daughter Alma and seemed upset when 3 times in the last month people have told her their grandmothers were named that. Did she think she invented the name Alma?

Le-a is a new one.

No, it's not pronounced "Leah".

The correct pronunciation is "Luh-DASH-uh".

My name was on the top ten list in 1959. THREE TIMES! Various spellings, but all use the same nickname.
I know only one person who named their child Debbie in the last 30 years. I am sure there are more out there.
The name has fallen off the top ten.
