Actually I've seen quite a few posts on this thread that agree with mine.

So you disagree with me about noise in a casino..so what ? I don't like it (the shrieking) anywhere. I was trying to point out that it's just as annoying as any child shrieking. I merely used a casino as an example when it could have been any other public venue. Sheesh..you people are picky and grasping at straws now, seriously.

Macie..so I visit a casino once in a while. The indian casinos we have here tend to be a little more hushed then your standard vegas casino. So I go once in a while..so the eff what ??? Besides, slot machines don't generally cause hearing damage.

I couldn't care less whether you go to a casino..have at it ... it just takes some cred away what with your extreme noise sensitivity and migraine tendency...flashing lights, bells, whistles, the constant repetition of "Wheel.....Of.....Fortune!!!"

But if you can find a casino as quiet as you expect a grocery store and laundromat to be then I say good for you!

So you have a couple of choices-- you can

1. control your surroundings as much as possible by altering your own behavior
2. develop a bit more tolerance of your fellow human beings, no matter how loathesome, because you really are the bigger person (sometimes literally)
3. make a jerk of yourself by asserting your self-ascribed "rights" and possibly end up in jail for assault or in the ER as the victim of same
4. spend your time whining and complaining to anyone who will listen
Yup, yup, yup.

While I absolutely agree that it's inappropriate for children to carry on and scream and tantrum, without being removed from the situation, I do not subscribe to the idea that you should remove a happy child because they might bother somebody.

It is my experience that on the odd occasion my daughter has become excited in a store (once she jumped up and down and yelled "Mommy! The mushrooms are on sale! The mushrooms are on sale!) the response from anybody nearby has been to smile or laugh with her, not to run out of the store holding their ears in despair. I think I'm capable of discerning whether the behavior is obnoxious or not. That would be the crux of it, to me.
That is not a disruption to anyone. Mushrooms on sale is a good thing.

I think you are assuming an extreme that was not intended. At least not by me.

Of course, that wouldn't have made good fuel for your Children With Sinister Motives rant, but...
