Kibbie- I hope your friend does well too.

Thanks you guys for helping me put things into perspective. I may be stressed about working too much and money being a bit tight, but it always helps when someone can help you remember the important things in life. I have a healthy, happy family. My issues are tiny. Thank you for that reminder.

Ewag- I love the video. I will have to bookmark that for any time I need a good laugh.

And right back at you, num! You guys are great for both listening to kvetching about the little stuff and for helping to put it all in perspective. I always know where to come for a chuckle, a hug and a kick in the arse, whichever is needed!!
amen sistas!

I am familiar with go go boots and cages, but never danced in either!

I LOVED Petula Clark! That was one of our "sing into the hairbrush" songs. We used to rush home from school to watch Hullabaloo on TV. The hand movements were part of it. When you listened to a song you had to do the hand movements. If you didn't do the hand movements you were totally Mickey Mouse. Totally.

Idk why but I went into the breastfeeding thread...

Nursing can go on for years???

I knew of the extreme cases where the kid would be 5 or older but I thought you typically stopped before they were a year.

4 months for my first 3. I think 6 months for my youngest. Some people go much longer than that.

My DD went for 8 months before I dried up (long story). Most people I know try to go a year. I do know one woman who used to go up to visit her son in Kindergarten to give him a snack. That was a bit too far IMO.

The American Academy of Pediatrics currently recommends exclusive breastfeeding through six months, and then breastfeeding along with solids until one year. Usually starting on solids means the kiddo will nurse less. DS self-weaned around 16 months, but he had been only doing a single bedtime nurse (not sure why, but I've read that's usually the last feeding time to go) since around a year or so. I'm aiming for a year for DD as well. My rule of thumb is that when the kiddo is old enough to ask for it by name or help themselves, it is time to stop! But folks have very different (and strong!!) opinions on this.
