Sigh. So this is one of my son's best friends - he spends days at a time at Brian's house. My son is the one who took the video. His friend is suspended for 10 days and facing expulsion and my son has a Saturday suspension because of all this. I think the school is going a little too far. The boy didn't do anything obscene and has apologized for it. No, he should NOT have done it, but it was, in the end, a harmless teen prank. I got a call from the principal yesterday. Luckily my son charmed the hell out of her or else he'd have gotten suspended too, instead of just a Saturday school. Pffft.

So all he did was run down the sideline wearing a banana suit? Sounds like the school is over reacting in a big way, unless there are other factors at play.

Suspended for 10 days and facing expulsion? That is downright stupid, unless there's some major part of the puzzle missing (he had a weapon, told people he had a weapon, was on drugs at the time, long history of troublemaking, etc.). I'd give that prank a Saturday school or two and call it a day. I didn't appreciate the mom's pulling the autism discrimination card, though.

What the heck is up with that school?

that's literally all he did. They gave out tons and tons of in school suspension yesterday b/c the kids came to school wearing "free banana man" shirts. I think the problem is that it's a brand new principal who is trying to prove she's ok for the job.

Also, yeah. I've seen no evidence of autism in Brian.

They're good kids who just thought it would be funny. They don't do drugs or anything. They hang out at his house and swim and make up songs and music on the weekends.

When I was in high school, we had a major rivalry with another school on the other side of the district. Lots of pranks back and forth. This was back when Bob's Big Boy was still around, and kids were always stealing "Bob" and planting him weird places, like in the middle of the other school's football field.

We stole Bob too. Good times.

A suspension for running around dressed like a banana? Whoa. My high school class would probably have been thrown in the pokey nowadays with some of the stuff we pulled. Which usually involved glue, toilet paper, duct tape, and theft of government property.

And it was expected of us. You had to top the previous class or you walked around town with your head hung in shame.

The shool waaaaay over-reacted...they should be rewarding this boy for his comedic creativity....I mean he could have easily done what they did when I was younger...back then the "in" thing to do was streaking!
