Wow, are you misinformed. I can understand a person refuting something when they don't have the evidence or proof, but I will never understand anyone denying something so obvious and well-documented/proven.

Fortunately, there are increasing numbers of people taking a firm and often outspoken stand against Facebook and hopefully, there are going to be more and more lawsuits against Zuckerberg's out-of-control and dangerous business. I am proud to be making efforts to implement legislation to control entities like FB, and I admire anyone else who takes such similar stands about it and other detrimental forces in society today.

Unfortunately, you and others like you, are more part of the problem than any possible solutions for betterment.

What a thread this has become

Facebook should start charging their users. It's definitely coming in the next 5 to 10 years. That should regulate FB, especially the wildness that exists right now.

Besides, once they go public, there will be more responsibility and restrictions, as any single controversy will trigger a panic sale and invite short sellers The party may be over soon.

Possible

Either google or apple or microsoft will swallow this little thing.

But first, it has to go public for a hostile take-over.

Do you have any proof that shows the facebook is dangerous for the MAJORITY of its user?

You said you had something "well-documented/proven" could you please share it. Thank you.

Folks, please remember this is a Parenting forum, and a discussion about Facebook should remain framed with that intent. A debate about Facebook in general belongs over in Science & Technology, probably in the Internet subforum. Thanks.

What am I misinformed about exactly?

Are you disputing that data mining has been in existence for decades?

Yes, thank you very much.

I acknowledged that it could be dangerous and that some people have been hurt by malicious use of the site. I get that. However, I do not believe it is as rampant as mizela portrays.

Default Do your under 13 year old kids have Facebook?

This issue recently resurfaced in our house again. My answer is wait until you are 13 according to the FB regulations.

Of course "everyone else one has one" according to my kid.

Yes, when my son was in middle school 6th grade I allow him to get a Facebook account. He is required to 'friend' me. If were to un-friends me, I would block his account from getting to the internet, from the norton family monitor software, he know that and has not.

He's in HS now, I read over his page about once a week to make sure he is not posting anything he shouldn't. He does your FB to chat with his friend thru its IM function.
