I've never heard of that, but I have been out of teaching since the 90s. We used to ask the kids what they preferred and called them by that nickname. We never had a problem with inappropriate nicknames though.

Sometimes I think that parents that give their kids very strange, ugly, obnoxious names do not love them, and want to punish them and themselves for having kids.....

Yep, that.....and/or.... they are so consumed with feeding their own egos by choosing a "unique" name, that they are blinded to the curse they are bestowing upon their child.

Unique is not necessarily good when it comes to names.

Or at least pick a unique name that sounds nice and looks nice -- like I said at the beginning, I think the name looks harsh and sounds harsh.
