I disowned my daughter. I'm upset that she is expecting a child with her high functioning autistic boyfriend (my son in law). She's upset with me. Was it the right thing to do?

In your last thread it was your sister having the baby, so what's the real story? I can't imagine disowning a child over the reason you have given, it sounds like it falls into the "your loss" column.

What the heck is a high functioning boyfriend? It's her body and her life. She can have a child if she wishes. No, disowning her is all shades of wrong.

What I meant was that her boyfriend has a form of autism that I find hard to relate to him.

Is she your daughter or your sister? Is he her boyfriend or her husband?

No, it wasn’t the right to do, but maybe they are better off without you. 🤷🏻*♀️

If you have to ask others after the fact if it was the right thing to do or not, then it wasn't the right thing to do.

She knew what was expected of her. So I'd say yes, the right decision was made here. Because of Hollywood, people think you have to invite your child's drama and chaos into your own life. Think again!

I don't know how anyone could possibly answer this given only this information.

It appears that you believe that someone with autism should never become a parent and someone who enables that has committed an unforgivable offense. Based on that, I would say it was not the right thing to do, but ultimately, your daughter is likely better off without you. So in one sense, it probably is for the best.

EDIT: Wait -- your daughter is having a baby with your son in law, who is also her boyfriend. Does this mean that this man is married to another daughter of your's? One man is simultaneously the husband to one of your children and the boyfriend to another? YIKES. What a mess.
