I think so - named after Dexter's adotive father "Harry"

I had to look it up--it was 1984. Interestingly, I came across a forum discussion about the effect of the movie on that becoming a girl's name and found this:

Splash was released in 1984, and the girl's name "Madison" did show a marked increase in popularity starting the following year. It didn't really take off as one of the most popular girl's names until the late 1990's, though.

The names Tabitha and Samantha became extremely popular after Bewitched came on.

For the name Samantha: it went from not even being in the top names to reaching 472nd place in 1964, then 179th in 1965.

For Tabitha: before 1966, it wasn't even on the list. In 1966, it reached up to 525th place and then 450th in 1967.

I'm sort of a hippie at heart. I love plant, flower and tree names for girls:
Violet
Lilly
Rowan
Willow
Cedar

For boys I like more traditional names. If my second was boy his name would've been Sebastian Gabriel or Otto Willem. We ended up having a girl. She wasn't named after a plant, flower, or tree, though. Her name means night rain. I'm pretty happy with what I picked for her. I like what my husband picked for my son.

I don't have any kids, but I have always liked the names for a girl: Serafina, Alexandra, Amalia, Viviana. For a boy I have always liked simple names like Ben, Scott, or Matt although I really like Matteo.

Something I needed when she passed away.

Tabitha is my cat's name! She is a tabby ... we are SO creative.

Mightyqueen, I wonder if all those Madisons have moms who grew up in the 80s and saw that movie (I loved it too). That would explain why the boom didn't come till later.

I like the name Maddie for a girl but would choose Madeline or even Matilda first. Madeline violates my "no tricky spelling" rule.
