If it's independent equipment, another solution is tighter briefs, usually the low rise or mid rise are cut tighter.

I'm going to go with a "cool" male having a talk with him. He needs someone to explain that this is normal, otherwise his embarrassment will continue to escalate.

Thank you everyone for your responses. What you are saying makes senses and yet had nver occurred to me. My son has had a particularly big growth spurt this past year ( 6 inches) and it is noticeable that he has grown into a man. I was thinking down the lines of being aware of his body difference and wanting to hide it, your responses took it to the next level. I had discussed with him my theory of being bigger in that area than his friends and wanting to not stand out and have accepted that this is a phase that he is going through. Based on responses, while I was off the mark somewhat, I plan on sticking to my plan of acceptance, for the time being anyway.
